Cultural Worship

On Sunday nights we have "cultural worship services." They last approx. 1 1/2 hrs, not too shabby; we enjoy them a lot! Basically how it works is that for each cultural worship we pick a certain part of the world to model that worship service in. We try to simulate the environment as much as possible, for example last Sunday night it was South Asia worship and so everyone had to at least cover their heads (the women) when they came into the worship building because that is customary for the majority of the South Asia culture. Also, we sang all of our songs in Hindi or Nepali. One of the guys on our team that is also going to South Asia recited a story from the Bible in Hindi. "Storying" as well call it is one of the primary ways to reach South Asians because the majority of South Asia is an oral culture in meaning that they don't read so we do chronological bible storying to teach them and to introduce the gospel to them, so we have been learning how to do that here, much more difficult than I could have ever imagined, because we basically have to memorize the stories verbatim if possible. ANYWAYS, so that was a fun night to experience.

Pictures soon to come!
