Us lately

We also visited a Gudwar (Sikh temple) in the city we've been living in.

Me and my good, good friend Jinny. I sure do lover her!
This is one of the idols they worship.

Here is a picture of the Ganges RIver, a Holy River that all of the Hindus who come to the Kumbh Mela get in to bathe in and we were told that if they bathe in the holy water then God will bless them and wash their sin away. It was a very hard day to watch the hopeless religion consume these people.

Monkeys EVERYWHERE at the Kumbh Mela. Scary. Not so cute and cuddly, not for me anyways.

One of the many beautiful fruit stands we passed by.

Nick took this picture of the bathroom (squatty potty that was in the train we took) GOod thing they have handle bars b/c there's not much stability.

This was our breakfast.

I am enjoying my vegetarian(not by choice) breakfast and chai. Good times.

So, we took a 5 hr. train ride to a city called Haridwar (northern India). We went to observe a Hindu festival called Kumbh Mela. (you should look it up on wikipedia). This picture is from when we arrived at the train station. Crazy..crazy.

We have been super busy during our orientation time here in India. We have learned SOOO much about this country, the people, and life in general, and a lot about ourselves. I'm also constantly learning how much grace the Lord gives us. We've been out in the community a lot and not allowing ourselves to hide out in our room. There are days where it is hard to go outside because everything is still so foreign and I get tired of not being able to speak the language, but it has been so good to just be constantly pushed out the door and talking to people whether they speak english or not. We've taken little field trips to different places; we've visited a Sufi Muslim temple, we went to Kumbh Mela in Hardiwar which is about a 4.5 train ride from where we are at now in orientation; and today we went to a Gudwar (Sikh temple). WE are learning lots and learning how incredibly diverse India is in beliefs, culture, and people as a whole. We have really enjoyed out time here; this is our new home and we are incredibly loving it. The Lord has been so faithful in giving contentment during these times.
